Wyoming Book Awards

In association with the Wyoming Library Association, We recognize favorite books chosen by our Wyoming students. This award process allows students to become acquainted with the best contemporary authors, become aware of qualities that make a good book, and how to critically read, choose, and vote in choosing an award.

 We are pleased to announce the student-selected winners of the 2023 Book Awards. 

Grades K-3

Buckaroo Book Award Winners, 2022-2023

3rd Place: Snail Crossing by Corey R. Tabor

Grades 4-6

Indian Paintbrush Book Award Winners, 2022-2023

1st Place: My Life as a Potato by Arianne Costner

2nd Place: Scary Stories for Young Foxes by Christian McKay Heidicker

3rd Place: Ban this Book by Alan Gratz

Grades 7-12

Soaring Eagle Book Award Winners, 2022-2023

1st Place: I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys

2nd Place: You'll be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus

3rd Place: The Similars by Rebecca Hanover

Soaring Eagle Award

The Soaring Eagle Book Award provides the opportunity for Wyoming youth in grades 7-12 to select a favorite book and honor its author. Its purpose is to help Wyoming students in grades 7-12.

Indian Paintbrush Award

The Indian Paintbrush Book Award provides an opportunity for Wyoming youth in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades to choose their favorite book from a list of 10 nominees and honor its author.


Buckaroo Award

The Buckaroo Book Award provides the opportunity for Wyoming children in grades kindergarten through third to select favorite books they have read or listened to and to honor the authors of these books.
